About the buyer

Ipswich Borough Council is a local authority based in the Suffolk town of Ipswich. A corporate procurement team runs the council's tendering. Suffolk Sourcing, an e-tendering portal run jointly with Suffolk County Council and the county's district and borough councils, carries the council's live opportunities. Larger requirements also appear on Find a Tender, the UK government's central opportunities service. Suppliers register on Suffolk Sourcing to view tenders, submit bids, track awarded contracts and receive alerts. Contract Standing Orders under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 set out how the council buys.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of Ipswich Borough Council's contract awards have been in transport equipment, architectural and engineering services and software and information systems.
