About the buyer
Canterbury City Council is a local authority that buys through a shared Kent-wide procurement portal, used by councils across the county. Contract opportunities appear there via Delta, the portal's esourcing system for supplier registration. Larger contracts are also published on Find a Tender, the government's central digital platform for public contracts. Registered suppliers on Find a Tender receive a share code for submitting their business information. Procurement decisions follow the Procurement Act 2023, the council's current legal framework for contract awards. Standard invoices are paid within 30 days of receipt, with small local suppliers paid within seven.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Canterbury City Council's contract awards have been in construction work, architectural and engineering services and transport equipment.
