About the buyer
London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames buys as a London local authority, advertising many of its tenders through the Atamis eSourcing platform. Suppliers register free on Atamis, gaining access to opportunities that further councils also publish on the same system. Atamis links directly to the government's new central digital platform under the Procurement Act 2023. New suppliers complete a Trading with the Council form, issued by their named contact, before starting any work. Capita Business Services processes invoices and payment queries on the council's behalf. Commissioning guidance and standard contract terms aim to make bidding more accessible to organisations new to the council.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames's contract awards have been in transport services, construction work and health and social work.
