Tender description

Medway Council invites tenders from suitably experienced Care Quality Commission (CQC) providers, for the provision of Support to Live at Home - Home Care and Extra Care Services. This is a multiple lot framework as detailed:\r Lot 1 - Homecare\r The homecare service will provide care and support to people in their own home and to those living in the five Medway Extra Care schemes. Medway currently provides homecare to approximately 1000 people delivering 9744 hours of care per week. (Reference period w/c 18th April 2022)\r The Homecare Services under this Framework Agreement will be available to adults over the age of eighteen who meet the Council's eligibility criteria for services.\r There are 3 sub-lots for Lot 1.\r Lot 2 - Extra Care \r An Extra Care Scheme is a mixed-use scheme enabling older people with a range of care and support needs to live independently in their own homes. Service users will be fifty-five and over including those sensory needs, mental disorder including dementia, short- or long-term illnesses and those who require end of life care. About the buyer

Medway Council governs the Medway towns in Kent, and buys as a local authority with its own central procurement team. All contracting opportunities are advertised on the Kent Business Portal, where suppliers can search live tenders and set up email alerts. Suppliers must also register on the Central Digital Platform, a requirement since the Procurement Act 2023 took effect. Dynamic purchasing systems cover recurring needs such as SEND transport, supported living and agency staff recruitment. Premarket engagement with suppliers shapes tender requirements before contracts go live. The council also publishes its full contracts register on the same portal.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of Medway Council's contract awards have been in construction work, architectural and engineering services and health and social work.
