About the buyer
University of Warwick is a higher education body that buys mainly through Procurement Services in the Finance Office. Tenders are advertised regularly on the In-Tend portal, and larger contracts also appear on Find a Tender. Suppliers become approved through the university's own tenders or via consortium and national frameworks across the sector. Specialist frameworks such as NERARS cover categories like advertising and media buying. Day-to-day orders run through OPeRA, the university's own e-procurement system. Procurement Services reports into a Deputy Finance Director. Approved suppliers must meet Stage 1 SSIP safety standards. A supplier code of conduct applies to every contract signed.
Education procurement reached £47.4bn in 2024/25, the fourth-largest public sector budget.
Over the past 5 years, most of University of Warwick's contract awards have been in laboratory and precision equipment.
