Tender description

The University of Sheffield is seeking to award a contract by competitive tender, with the objective being to appoint a maximum of four suppliers, one of which must be a local community led catering provider, to a framework agreement to complement the in house hospitality services of the University in the provision of Delivered Hospitality Catering Services. The University has a thriving portfolio of retail, hospitality, hotel, conference and event services, which are serviced by Accommodation and Commercial Services. Employing circa 400 staff, we are proud to support the University's core and bespoke hospitality activities. The primary aim of this procurement process therefore is to produce a list of approved suppliers, a maximum of four, that can demonstrate they are able to meet the Food Safety and Health and Safety standards required to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff, students and visitors to the University. The full technical specification can be found in the ITT documentation, which will be available after you have expressed your interest on In-Tend. Tender Process and Documentation: This is an FTS Open tender exercise. The ITT can be downloaded by registering and expressing your interest on the University`s e-tendering system https://in-tendhost.co.uk/Sheffield If you have any questions or comments in relation to this tender, they must be submitted via the In-tend System. Your tender response must also be submitted through InTend to arrive by the date and time specified. Late tenders will not be considered.

About the buyer

University of Sheffield is a higher education institution whose Procurement Office lets and manages contracts for its schools and departments. Tenders are run through the In-Tend portal, and where required on the Central Digital Platform. The university also buys through regional and national frameworks as a member of the North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium, part of UKUPC. They cover catering, furniture, computing, laboratory supplies, postal services, domestic services, professional services and stationery. Once a contract is let, each school and department must buy from the contracted supplier. Lower-value purchases are handled by departments through quotation exercises.

Education procurement reached £47.4bn in 2024/25, the fourth-largest public sector budget.

Over the past 5 years, most of University of Sheffield's contract awards have been in construction work, industrial machinery and laboratory and precision equipment.
