Tender description
Microsoft Licence and Support Contract: The Council currently has approximately 7300 staff located over 250 locations, with a mixed estate of approximately 10,000 hardware devices split between laptops, desktops, tablets and mobile phones. In addition, there are approximately 300 users (and an associated quantity of endpoints) who qualify for Academic pricing. There are around 300 applications in use, a large proportion of which can be accessed through a Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. Much of the Council's IT estate is underpinned by Microsoft technology. As examples: use of Microsoft Office is still prevalent to support a number of dependent applications and processes (including Microsoft Access). Windows Server, SQL, Windows client OS, Active Directory and Remote Desktop Services continue to play a critical role in the delivery of services. Additional information: The Council is using the e-business portal known as the Chest. Applicants will need to register their details at the following link www.the-chest.org.uk. Applicants will need to electronically submit their completed tender documents, including online questionnaire, via the on-line portal by 11am on Wednesday 05 January 2022

About the buyer
Manchester City Council is the local authority for the city of Manchester, and buys through its Corporate Procurement Service. Category leads across the council handle procurement for their own areas of goods and services. Contract opportunities are advertised on The Chest, the North West's shared procurement portal for local authorities. Larger contracts also appear on Find a Tender, the UK's service for public procurement notices. A Professional Services Framework covers consultancy and professional services work for the council. Suppliers can register for free email alerts on The Chest when relevant opportunities are published.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Manchester City Council's contract awards have been in health and social work, construction work and transport equipment.
