About the buyer
Cheshire East Council is a local authority procuring for the Cheshire East borough, with its own Corporate Procurement Unit handling contracts and quotations. Tender opportunities are advertised on The Chest e-tendering portal, the council's route to market for open competitions. Larger contracts above the public procurement threshold also appear on Find a Tender, the government's central digital platform. Smaller purchases follow a risk-based sourcing approach, using either a request for quotation or an existing public sector framework. Contracts are also listed on the North West Contracts register, giving suppliers visibility across the wider region.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Cheshire East Council's contract awards have been in transport services, construction work and software and information systems.
