About the buyer

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is the local authority for the East Riding of Yorkshire, and buys under a procurement strategy that covers goods and services, construction and housing, and health and care. Most of the council's business opportunities, including frameworks, are advertised on the YORtender website. Registration on YORtender is free, with no annual subscription or document download fees. Contracts above the national threshold are also advertised on Find a Tender. Approved supplier lists are being phased out in favour of framework agreements. A supplier's guide sets out how the council advertises upcoming tenders, how to bid and what information is required.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of East Riding of Yorkshire Council's contract awards have been in education and training, health and social work and transport services.
