Description
About us: As part of the new Stronger Communities directorate, the council is taking a preventative approach to supporting residents with multiple barriers and acute needs, helping them gain more financial stability and resilience in the face of the “cost of living crisis”. Waltham Forest residents face a range of connected issues that fuel inequality and generate poverty across the borough. Many residents struggle to find secure jobs which in effect, impacts their ability to find affordable housing, pay for essential services such as gas, water and electricity and have enough money to buy basic necessities such as food items, clothing and toiletries. The Employment and Opportunities team (which sits within the Stronger Communities directorate, in Employment, Business and Skills service) wants to commission a construction training provider that will embrace the stronger communities ethos and target residents far away from the job market and harder to reach to improve confidence, employability skills, wellbeing and develop fulfilling careers in the construction sector. A crucial part of this project will be to work alongside the designated Employment, Business and Skills Project Manager (PM) to establish strong referral routes from our Stronger Communities directorate, to identify targeted cohorts with the aim of securing employment in the construction industry. The project brief has been designed to measure impact not just in training and job outcomes but also capture soft outcomes such as distance travelled, increase in confidence, mental wellbeing and sustainability in the workplace. We recognise nuisance to capture soft outcomes and can be discussed and agreed before the start of the project. Project brief Support 25 candidates from disadvantaged (Residents aged 18 -24 not in employment, education or training, Economically inactive residents, Young people leaving care, Ex -offenders, Residents ages 50+ unemployed for a year or more, Learners with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities) to improve their economic situation by successfully completing training programme and securing getting a job.
