About the buyer

Cardiff University is a higher education buyer based in the Welsh capital, and it advertises larger contract opportunities through the Sell2Wales portal. Current tender notices for the University are also published on InTend and the Tenders Electronic Daily service. Suppliers working with the University must hold a valid purchase order in place before any goods are delivered or any work begins. Purchase card payment covers smaller transactions instead of a formal purchase order. Every procurement at the University is run for value for money alongside environmental, social and governance impact across the whole life of the contract.

Education procurement reached £47.4bn in 2024/25, the fourth-largest public sector budget.

Over the past 5 years, most of Cardiff University's contract awards have been in business services, construction work and medical equipment and pharmaceuticals.
