Tender description

The service is to deliver comprehensive, inclusive, and needs-led support for all People Living With or affected by HIV ("PLWH"), including those at increased risk of acquiring HIV, and those who support and care for them. Kirklees supports the ambitious and important national target to end new cases of HIV in England by 2030 - the service will contribute towards the achievement of this locally through the provision of both universal and suitably targeted prevention work. The service will use a holistic approach to focus on prevention and support PLWH to maximise health, well-being, quality of life and social integration, recognising the interdependencies between an effective support offer and the prevention of transmission and new cases of HIV. Lot 1: Given significant improvements in prevention and declines in new cases, the government has made a commitment to end HIV transmissions in England by 2030. As recommended in the recent report from the HIV Commission reviewing progress towards this goal, achieving this will require a significant boost in prevention, testing, and early diagnosis, alongside an increased focus on tackling stigma, discrimination, and health inequalities within the health system. The work of the HIV Support and Prevention Service will complement other (HIV specific and generic) health and social care services and enable people living with and affected by HIV in Kirklees to live independent lives, effectively manage their long-term condition, and enjoy good quality of life and health and wellbeing. It will also work to reduce (and ultimately eliminate) HIV transmission, reduce late diagnosis rates, and tackle HIV related stigma and discrimination.
