Tender description
Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust intends to award a contract to Precision Ocular Network for the supply of donated human corneal tissue used in ophthalmic transplant procedures. The direct award is made under Section 41 and Schedule 5, Paragraph 6 of the Procurement Act 2023, on the grounds of absence of competition for technical reasons. NHS Blood and Transplant is unable to consistently meet the Trust's clinical requirements for corneal tissue. Precision Ocular Network provides an established source of clinically suitable tissue meeting the required quality, regulatory and continuity requirements. The Trust has not identified a reasonable alternative capable of reliably meeting its specific clinical and supply requirements.
