Tender description
A self-contained nature finance game that allows players to virtually develop nature recovery projects funded using private and blended finance. Using the GFI Investment Readiness Toolkit as a framework the game will start by presenting players with options such as whether they want to play a seller or buyer, followed by various seller or buyer scenarios. Once a player has picked a role they will be taken through the process of developing a nature recovery project using private and blended finance from the start through to signing legal documents and the work starting on the ground. They will do this by working through a series of scenarios. They will have to complete every scenario satisfactorily to be able to move onto the next scenario. Reasons for not completing a scenario properly will be given, as will explanations of why they have completed a scenario correctly. Where possible there will be more than one correct way to complete a scenario. The game will be for Natural England so will focus on the roles that NE staff are likely to play at each stage of a projects development but will also be able to be used by Environment Agency and Forestry Commission staff carrying out nature finance related roles.

About the buyer
Natural England is a non-departmental public body, and buys through its own eSourcing portal for organisations wanting to work with it. Registration on the portal is free, and suppliers can browse live opportunities without commitment. Contract awards and the documents behind them are published separately on Contracts Finder, the government's central register for public sector contract opportunities and awards. Procurement queries can be directed to Natural England's own procurement support team, or to Defra's central procurement contact, depending on the enquiry. Successful bidders must supply a Dun & Bradstreet DUNS number before a contract is confirmed.
Procurement spend from central entities makes up 66% of overall UK public spend.
Over the past 5 years, most of Natural England's contract awards have been in research and development, waste, cleaning and environmental services and architectural and engineering services.
