Specialist Building Surveying and Valuation Services for Douglas Mausoleum, Kelton

Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking to engage with the market to identify suitably qualified and experienced suppliers capable of providing specialist building surveying and valuation services in relation to Douglas Mausoleum, Kelton, near Castle Douglas. The mausoleum has recently transferred into the Council's trusteeship following the dis-establishment of the relevant Community Council. The Council now has responsibility for the asset and requires an assessment of its value and condition. Given the historic and specialist nature of the structure, the Council wishes to understand the level of market capability and identify potential suppliers with relevant expertise. There is a degree of urgency associated with this requirement due to potential health and safety concerns relating to the structure. Lot 1: Scope of Requirement The appointed supplier would be expected to: - Undertake a site visit and inspection of Kirkton Mausoleum. - Provide a professional valuation of the asset. - Assess the condition of the structure insofar as it affects valuation and asset management considerations. - Produce a written report suitable for Council records and decision-making purposes. - Highlight any significant issues observed that may require further investigation or action. Supplier Requirements Interested suppliers should be able to demonstrate: - Appropriate professional qualifications and accreditation (e.g. RICS or equivalent). - Experience of surveying and valuing historic, listed, heritage, ecclesiastical or other specialist structures. - Knowledge of conservation and heritage considerations where relevant. - Professional indemnity insurance appropriate to the services being provided.
