The Scottish Funding Council funds the college as a contracting authority. A procurement team inside the finance department runs buying for the college. Public Contracts Scotland carries every tender, quick-quote and contract award notice the college issues. Much of this procurement flows through Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges, the sector's shared buying service. Crown Commercial Service, Scotland Excel and NWUPC add further framework routes. Regulated contracts are logged on the college's Hunter Contract Database.

Education procurement reached £47.4bn in 2024/25, the fourth-largest public sector budget.

Over the past 5 years, most of Inverness College UHI's contract awards have been in industrial machinery, construction materials and agricultural and horticultural services.
