Tender description
The Supplier demonstrates professionalism, experience, and a suitable work profile in Direct Production (DP) Harvesting. The Supplier is highly experienced at working within heavily visited public areas. All services provided must comply with the United Kingdom Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS), Forest Industry Safety Accord (FISA) guides, The UK Forestry Standard (UKFS), Forestry England Health and Safety Policy, and all other relevant environmental and health & safety legislation. The Commission expects most of the work to be undertaken with purpose-built forestry machines deployed within a short-wood system of working. There is a regular requirement for some motor-manual working and occasional winch extraction to support this work. The Commission may at our sole discretion consider alternative systems that are demonstrated to be fully compliant with this specification. ## Contract award

About the buyer
The Forestry Commission is a non-ministerial department for forestry policy, with procurement run through its agencies, Forestry England and Forest Research, coordinated by a Bristol-based commercial team. Larger opportunities are advertised on the Panacea Procurement Portal and the Find a Tender Service. District offices handle smaller purchases locally through direct quotations. Frameworks, including the Crown Commercial Service, supply many everyday goods and services. Dynamic purchasing systems cover recurring work such as tree planting, civil engineering, fencing and wildlife management. Suppliers can register for these systems through the Panacea Procurement Portal at any time.
Procurement spend from central entities makes up 66% of overall UK public spend.
Over the past 5 years, most of the Forestry Commission's contract awards have been in agricultural and horticultural services, construction work and business services.
