About the buyer
Belfast Harbour Commissioners is a trust port and the statutory harbour authority for Belfast Port, buying through its own procurement function. Some requirements run through a dynamic purchasing system, as used for the harbour's electricity supply. A Board of Commissioners and an Executive Team oversee the port's operations and its investment programme. Trust port status keeps the harbour self-financing, with profits reinvested into the port. Most of Northern Ireland's seaborne trade moves through the harbour's docks.
Over the past 5 years, most of Belfast Harbour Commissioners's contract awards have been in construction work, fuel and energy and electrical equipment and lighting.
