About the buyer

Hampshire County Council buys as a local authority through its own Strategic Procurement Team. Tenders are advertised on the In-tend e-tendering portal, shared with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and neighbouring district councils. The same team also procures for district, borough and parish councils and national park authorities across Hampshire. Existing contracts and frameworks are listed on Contracting Direct, shared with Hampshire Constabulary and the fire and rescue service. A separate Strategic Frameworks Team runs works and professional services framework agreements for public authorities across the South.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of Hampshire County Council's contract awards have been in construction work, education and training and health and social work.
