About the buyer

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is a local authority in South Yorkshire, and advertises most of its contract opportunities through YORtender, its e-tendering platform. YORtender also carries live tender opportunities from councils across the Yorkshire region, run as a shared regional procurement platform. Procurement follows the reformed rules introduced under the Procurement Act, with dedicated guidance published for prospective suppliers.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council's contract awards have been in construction work, software and information systems and architectural and engineering services.
