About the buyer

South Lanarkshire Council runs local government services from Hamilton as a local authority with its own procurement team. Every contract opportunity is advertised on Public Contracts Scotland, the national portal for Scottish public bodies. Lower-value work runs through PCS Quick Quote, while larger contracts move to PCS-Tender. Dynamic purchasing systems and procured services arrangements keep routes open for ongoing sourcing, particularly in social care. A two-year procurement plan sets out upcoming opportunities each year. The published contract register lists awarded contracts and framework agreements. No approved supplier list exists, so any business can bid.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of South Lanarkshire Council's contract awards have been in IT services, health and social work and education and training.
