Tender description
The Council is looking to engage with current or future providers of Extra Care settings who are also able to offer extra care services within their settings. The primary objective is to identify and engage with providers who currently operate Extra Care settings that include on-site care teams. We are particularly interested in understanding the availability, scope, and operational models of such services, as well as any barriers or opportunities that may influence future commissioning. This engagement will help inform our strategic planning and ensure that future services align with the needs of our local population. The Council does not currently have any plans to run a competitive procurement exercise for these services. Procurement identifier (OCID): ocds-h6vhtk-05644e Keywords: extra care

About the buyer
Liverpool City Council procures as a local authority for the city of Liverpool, with its approach set out in a published Sustainable Procurement Strategy. Most tender opportunities are advertised on the Proactis ProContract portal, where suppliers register to bid. Higher-value contracts also appear on the Central Digital Platform's Find a Tender service under the Procurement Act 2023. Frameworks and approved procurement routes run through separate platforms alongside the main portal. Lower-value purchases are usually handled through a direct quotation rather than a full tender. Some health and social care commissioning instead follows the Provider Selection Regime.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Liverpool City Council's contract awards have been in construction work, architectural and engineering services and software and information systems.
