Tender description
This project requires the supply of equipment that will be utilised to build two new recording studio control rooms for the Faculty of Business and Creative Industries based in our Cardiff campus. These two control rooms will replace one studio containing an Audient ASP-8024, associate furniture and outboard rack equipment and one smaller space featuring an Audient ASP-4816, furniture and outboard. These items have reached end-of-life and require replacement with a modernised, Dante-based solution providing a high specification teaching and learning environment to our students across the music courses we deliver. The spaces will be kitted identically, with minor differences in rack panelling and furniture to suit each space; these will be built according to the equipment specification in this tender, with installation being undertaken by the inhouse university team. About the buyer
University of South Wales is a higher education institution, buying through a dedicated team in its Finance department in Pontypridd. Contract notices and awards are published on Sell2Wales, the procurement portal for Welsh public bodies. Lower-value notices below the EU thresholds go out through eTenderwales. Larger requirements are let as framework call-offs, covering library systems and campus facilities. The university buys collaboratively through the Higher Education Purchasing Consortium Wales, alongside universities across Wales. The Welsh HE Shared Services Project extends this collaboration across the wider sector. Suppliers can register interest directly with the procurement team.
Education procurement reached £47.4bn in 2024/25, the fourth-largest public sector budget.
Over the past 5 years, most of University of South Wales's contract awards have been in business services, construction work and education and training.
