About the buyer
Peterborough City Council is a local authority that procures works, goods and services through its own e-procurement system, ProContract. Contracts above the relevant thresholds also appear on Find a Tender. Registering on Find a Tender requires a GOV.UK One Login. Suppliers register only after winning a tender or being contacted directly by a service area. The Buying Support team then issues registration forms to successful suppliers. A separate payments team manages changes to registered suppliers' bank and contact details. ProContract also lists the council's existing contracts and their renewal dates.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Peterborough City Council's contract awards have been in health and social work, software and information systems and construction work.
