About the buyer

Angus Council runs local government services from Forfar, and buys as a local authority with its own procurement team. Tenders and quotes appear on Public Contracts Scotland, the national portal for Scottish public bodies. Central purchasing body contracts offer a further route alongside competitive tenders. The Tayside Procurement Consortium pools buying power with Dundee City and Perth and Kinross councils, active since 2007. An approved list of roads suppliers is reviewed each year, with new applications invited through the portal. Roads maintenance work can also involve Tayside Contracts, the councils' shared in-house works arm.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of Angus Council's contract awards have been in transport equipment, transport services and architectural and engineering services.
