About the buyer
Orkney Islands Council is the local authority for the Orkney Islands, and buys through a dedicated procurement service led by a service manager. Construction works are sourced through a Dynamic Purchasing System open to approved contractors. Smaller purchases are assessed directly by individual council officers, with formal written quotations sought above a lower threshold. Suppliers must also meet a sustainable procurement policy covering environmental and social standards.
Over the past 5 years, most of Orkney Islands Council's contract awards have been in repair and maintenance, transport equipment and architectural and engineering services.
