About the buyer

Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC is a local authority in South Wales, and buys through a dedicated Procurement Unit. Every opportunity is advertised on Sell2Wales, the national procurement portal for Wales. Suppliers also register on eTenderWales, the council's own e-tendering system, to bid directly. A Local Business Directory lets smaller and local suppliers register interest in council-run contracts. Larger opportunities are listed in advance on a forward planning pipeline published through Sell2Wales. The council's own Contract Procedure Rules and a public contracts register set out how each award is run.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC's contract awards have been in construction work, repair and maintenance and architectural and engineering services.
