About the buyer

University of Strathclyde is a higher education provider in Glasgow, and buys through its own Procurement Services Team. Tender notices are advertised through the Public Contracts Scotland portal. Larger contracts also appear on Find a Tender once they pass the set threshold. Schools, faculties and departments place their own routine orders under central Finance Regulations and procurement procedures. Framework agreements through Advanced Procurement for Universities & Colleges, the Scottish Government and the Government Procurement Service cover much of its spend. Suppliers need a university purchase order before supplying goods or services, and cannot win business through direct marketing.

Education procurement reached £47.4bn in 2024/25, the fourth-largest public sector budget.

Over the past 5 years, most of University of Strathclyde's contract awards have been in business services, IT services and education and training.
