About the buyer

The Pensions Regulator regulates work-based pension schemes, and buys as a central government agency with its own e-Sourcing portal for competitions. Larger opportunities are advertised on the Find a Tender Service, with smaller contracts posted to Contracts Finder. Framework agreements are the first port of call for procurement, led by the Crown Commercial Service. Additional collaborative arrangements come through ESPO, YPO and NHS Supply Chain frameworks. An in-house commercial team manages the full contracting lifecycle from sourcing through to contract management. Bids are assessed against the Most Advantageous Tender standard under the Procurement Act 2023.

Procurement spend from central entities makes up 66% of overall UK public spend.

Over the past 5 years, most of The Pensions Regulator's contract awards have been in IT services, business services and software and information systems.
