About the buyer
Stoke-on-Trent City Council is a local authority, and its Category Management team runs procurement from the Civic Centre. Contract opportunities are listed on the council's own tender-search portal and on the government's Contracts Finder service. Pro-Contract, the Supply Stoke and Staffordshire portal, hosts contract opportunities shared across Staffordshire councils. A Commercial Pipeline gives suppliers advance notice of upcoming contracts before they are formally advertised. Every tendering procedure follows the council's own Procurement Code alongside the Procurement Act 2023. An awarded contracts directory publishes the outcome of every past tender for suppliers to review.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Stoke-on-Trent City Council's contract awards have been in construction work, architectural and engineering services and health and social work.
