In 2024 the government announced the latest tranche of workforce reforms including the launch of the first ever national career structure for the care workforce, alongside a new nationally accredited social care qualification, and social work and social care nursing apprenticeships.
In the immediate term, to support the delivery of these reforms.
The Authority wishes to commission a core workforce support and improvement offer to compliment this ambition and these policies.

The contract start date is anticipated to be 1st August 2024 and up to March 2025, with an option to extend once for a further twelve months, at Authority sole discretion subjected to approval and funds.

The suppliers can register their interest via Atamis portal with reference C260570.
This procurement follows the Open procedure route with Light touch regime (LTR) under The Public Contract Regulation 2015 - regulation 74 to 77. About the buyer

The Department of Health and Social Care sets health and social care policy for England, and buys as a central healthcare organisation through contracts tiered by value. Suppliers register on Atamis, the department's e-tendering portal, to see live opportunities. Larger contracts also appear on Find a Tender once government thresholds are passed. Much of this procurement flows through framework agreements and the Crown Commercial Service. Every contract carries a 30-day payment term under the Procurement Act 2023.

UK health spending has nearly quadrupled to £241.8bn in 2024/25, £20bn up on the year before. £140.6bn of that went to procurement, the biggest sector of UK public spending and the fastest-growing.

Over the past 5 years, most of the Department of Health and Social Care's contract awards have been in business services, IT services and health and social work.
