Tender description
Tenders are invited by the Council from Contractors with relevant experience and ability to demonstrate sufficient capacity for the provision of Bikeability in Kirklees (the “Services”). Kirklees Council (“the Council”), under the Bikeability standard, is seeking to appoint up to 4 suitably qualified and experienced cycle training contractors to provide training in schools across the borough. Successful contractors shall be required to co-ordinate bookings, provide suitable equipment and safely deliver training to the National Standard for Cycle Training (Level 1&2 combined/Level 2 training, PLUS Balance, Learn to Ride & Level 3 training) in schools across Kirklees. The majority of this delivery will focus on Level 1&2 combined/Level 2 training. Bikeability aims to encourage more people to travel sustainably, increase the number of children being active on a daily basis and to reduce pedal cycle casualties. Further information on Bikeability and the National Cycle Training Standard is available via the following link: National standard for cycle training - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

About the buyer
Kirklees Council is a West Yorkshire local authority with a corporate procurement team led by a Head of Procurement and Commissioning. Every tender is advertised on YORtender, the e-procurement portal used to run e-tenders and manage suppliers and contracts. Larger contracts also appear on Find a Tender through the Central Digital Platform. Service Directors hold the authority to commence and award procurements in their own directorates. Approved frameworks, dynamic purchasing systems and dynamic markets are permitted routes to market. The Head of Procurement keeps a list of approved central purchasing organisations, including YPO and the Crown Commercial Service.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Kirklees Council's contract awards have been in construction work, construction materials and health and social work.
