Tender description

Luton Borough Council is looking to engage qualified organisations to bid for a place on the ‘Private sector aids and adaptations approved supplier list’. Please note this is not a bid process that will result in a contract with the council. If successful in this process, you will be added to an approved supplier list (Stage 1) and then be able to quote for specific private housing projects (stage 2) and the contract will be between you and the applicant. The works are in all areas under the control of Luton Borough Council. They are commonly involving the fitting of wet rooms, access ramps and part M compliant doors. Occasionally the works may go as far as requiring an extension. For the equipment firms, we commonly fit stair lifts, hoists, step lifts and through floor lifts. There is a budget in excess of £1.2m annually for these works Keywords: architects, builders, adaptions, aids

About the buyer

Luton Council is a local authority, and a dedicated procurement team supports departments across the council to buy goods, services and works. All tenders are advertised and run through Procontract, the council's e-tendering portal. Suppliers register on Procontract and are automatically invited to tender for the council's contracting opportunities. Registration details must match Companies House records and describe services on offer. The council focuses on local supply chains and jobs and skills markets within its contracts, encouraging local sub-contractors, local recruitment and apprenticeships. Purchasing follows the council's standing orders and the Public Contract Regulations 2015.

UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).

Over the past 5 years, most of Luton Council's contract awards have been in software and information systems, construction work and IT services.
