Tender description
RES/INS Bristol Beacon Excess Layer. The Bristol Beacon redevelopment project is due to come to an end with Practical completion to be issued by the 30th November 2023. Practical completion will return the Bristol Beacon to the Council's control and insurable interest. Our current insurer Zurich have advised that they will retain an insurable interest up to the level of £50M. This is the current level held by completion the building value to be insured will be upto £120M. To arrange the excess layer to cover the remaining £70M we will look to Gallaghers the Council's broker to provide a solution. In anticipation that the cover required may be in excess of £50,000. The service has approached Gallaghers our broker to source the insurance for the excess level as Zurich won't cover the excess requirement for the Bristol Beacon.

About the buyer
Bristol City Council is a local authority that runs its own Procurement and Contract Management Service. Larger contracts are commissioned through ProContract, the council's Due North e-tendering portal, where suppliers register for alerts. High-value opportunities also appear on Find a Tender, and Contracts Finder carries lower-value contracts. Frameworks, dynamic purchasing systems and awarded contracts are listed on the council's e-procurement contracts register. A commercial pipeline gives a forward look at anticipated outsourcing over the next twelve months. Adult social care is commissioned by the Adult Care Commissioning team, largely through a single commissioning framework.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Bristol City Council's contract awards have been in health and social work, construction work and architectural and engineering services.
