About the buyer
Hertfordshire County Council is the local authority for Hertfordshire, and buys as a local government organisation. Every tender and quotation is advertised through Supply Hertfordshire, the council's electronic tendering portal. Nine public sector organisations across the county share Supply Hertfordshire as a joint procurement service. Registered suppliers receive automated email alerts when new tenders match their chosen category. Suppliers must also register on the Central Digital Platform to generate a Share Code for above-threshold procurements, a rule in effect since February 2025. Contracts carry the council's own terms and conditions for every goods, services and works purchase.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of Hertfordshire County Council's contract awards have been in health and social work, construction work and IT services.
