About the buyer
Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council is a local authority in Greater Manchester, and buys through its own Procurement and Performance team. Smaller contracts go to a limited number of quoted suppliers rather than open tender. Frameworks from the Crown Commercial Service and ESPO cover many common goods and services. Commissioning plans are published jointly with partner NHS trusts and Wigan and Leigh College.
Over the past 5 years, most of Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council's contract awards have been in construction work, business services and architectural and engineering services.
