About the buyer
London Borough of Lewisham is a local authority run by a directly elected Mayor and Cabinet, and buys through its own dedicated procurement team. Every tender for works, supplies and services is advertised on the London Tenders Portal. Registration on the portal is free and needs only a valid email address. Awarded contracts are then listed on the portal's own contract register. A corporate procurement strategy sets out the council's approach to Best Value and social value. The council follows the Procurement Act 2023 and Public Services Social Value Act when awarding contracts.
UK local government drives £140bn in annual procurement, led by social protection (£66.6bn) and education (£57.1bn).
Over the past 5 years, most of London Borough of Lewisham's contract awards have been in health and social work, construction work and business services.
