Tender description
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is responsible for carrying out various enforcement functions on a number of different schemes relating to road safety. As a result of this activity, various types of offences are detected by DVSA Enforcement Officers that may justify prosecution action through the court system. The DVSA requires specialist legal services to prosecute these cases on its behalf. In addition to this, the DVSA undertakes Special Investigations that require specialist legal support, these are larger and more complex than the case-work described above. The DVSA's requirement is for the provision of specialist legal resource who possess an appropriate depth of knowledge of the relevant court procedures and legislation as detailed in the Framework Specification.

About the buyer
Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency operates as an executive agency of the Department for Transport, running driving tests and vehicle standards enforcement across Great Britain and Northern Ireland. A dedicated procurement team, based in Nottingham, runs the agency's sourcing activity. Crown Commercial Service framework agreements cover most established sourcing needs. Opportunities without a framework in place are advertised on Contracts Finder for smaller-value work and Find a Tender for larger competitions. Suppliers register interest and bid through Crown Commercial Service's own supplier channels. Standard contract conditions apply separately to goods, services and purchase orders.
Procurement spend from central entities makes up 66% of overall UK public spend.
Over the past 5 years, most of Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency's contract awards have been in education and training, business services and IT services.
