About the buyer
Southampton City Council is a local authority, and buys goods, works and services under its own Contract Procedure Rules. Suppliers bidding for smaller contracts submit written quotations instead of a formal tender. Local suppliers and small and medium enterprises within the city boundary are actively encouraged to bid. Successful and unsuccessful tenderers are notified in writing, with scores and the winning supplier named.
Over the past 5 years, most of Southampton City Council's contract awards have been in construction work, business services and IT services.
