Prior Information Notice Procurement of Greenhouse at Vestsiden Lower Secondary School

Kongsberg kommune (Kongsberg Municipality) intends to enter into a contract with BBBLS greenhouse. Via a consultant the school has sought after alternative suppliers over a period of 5 years. The criteria are: • the greenhouse must function as a classroom throughout the year, • cultivation during the winter half year, • low carbon footprint, • low energy use, • facilitated for alternative cultivation methods, such as cultivation in water, • possibility of collecting technical data for use in energy calculations and teaching on an equal footing with solar cells, energy wells and planned hydrogen plants. Lot 1: Vestsiden Lower Secondary School is a newly built school building, completed in autumn 2019. The school has a high environmental focus. The main construction is of timber, it is energy classified as plus house with Breeam Certification Good. The school energy sources are energy wells and solar cells. A hydro system is planned to store energy in order to use it in the winter half year. The school extracts data on energy production and consumption in order to use the technological solutions in teaching. Vestsiden Lower Secondary School has ambitions to be one of Norway's foremost schools on sustainability with a strong focus on teaching within environment, nature, climate and sustainability. Cultivation, food production and recycling of resources is part of this and the school will use the greenhouse for these purposes. Knowledge of what one cultivates will be used in multidisciplinary teaching with, for example, science, mathematics, social studies, Norwegian, entrepreneurship, food and health. As the school is closed in the traditional greenhouse season for school kitchen gardens, solutions have been sought where cultivation can take place during the school year. Using a climate-efficient greenhouse with the latest technological solutions will be a great inspiration for research, innovation and creation.
