Description

Spiralen is a unique tunnel located in Drammen. The tunnel was constructed in the period from 1953 to 1961. The tunnel has a length of 1 650 metres and the height from ground to roof is approx. 160 metres. The tunnel has a straight entrance zone before it continues in 6,5 circles with a radius of 35 metres up to Spiraltoppen. It has a varying cross section, with limitations in relation to height and width. The tunnel's total design will be challenging and will to some degree mean restrictions for the contractor. Tenderers must therefore get well acquainted with the geometry of the tunnel before submitting tenders. The contract includes the upgrading of the Spiralen tunnel. This includes i.a.: — clarifying workmen's huts and location for new technical buildings, — demolition of buildings and structures, — demolition and reconstruction of fixtures and fittings and equipment in the tunnel, — rock protection measures, water and frost protection measures in the tunnel and tunnel niches, — blasting for expanding the local cross section and new niches for technical buildings, — new verges for conduits for lighting, a SRO (control, regulation and monitoring system) system and a storm water run-off system, — improvement of the concrete portals, — replacement of the wearing course, signs, marking, barriers and signals, — works in open air for both entrances of the tunnel, — assembly of 3 technical buildings with an area of approx. 100 m2 each, — new high-voltage supply system for Spiralen, — new water distribution system for Spiralen and Spiraltoppen, — new storm water run off system, — landscaping works at the upper and lower tunnel portals, — minor construction works for buildings such as works regarding bricklaying and concrete walls and lightweight aggregates, — new ventilation system, — delivery and installation of equipment for monitoring the air in the tunnel, detectors, safety equipment, fire proofing as well as emergency stations.
