This is a Prior Information Notice only and NOT a call from competition. It is the intention of Kerry County Council to tender for a Design Build Contract for South Kerry Greenway. The works relate to the following elements. 1. South Kerry Greenway – Section 2 (CH 18200 to CH 25650). 2. Caherciveen (Valentia Estuary) Bridge (CH 5180). 3. N70 Underpass (CH 14680). 4. N70 Overbridge. Lot 1: This is a Prior Information Notice only and NOT a call from competition. It is the intention of Kerry County Council to tender for a Design Build Contract for South Kerry Greenway. The works relate to the following elements. 1. South Kerry Greenway – Section 2 (CH 18200 to CH 25650) Construction a 3m wide paved surface cycleway. Reconstruction of bridge deck at CH 18750. Drainage outfalls. Gabion structures at Ch 19720 TO Ch 19910, 190m of Gabion Structure West of Drung Hill, Drunghill Tunnel West, 750m Gabion Structure East of Drung Hill Gabion Structure. Road realignment works to N70 at Caitins Beaters. Structural works at Gleesk Viaduct. New Structure for Nimmo’s Bridge, Structural works at Drunghill Tunnel West, Drung Hill Tunnel Middle, Drung Hill Tunnel East, and proposed bridge at Kilkeehagh at Ch 25645. 2. Caherciveen (Valentia Estuary) Bridge (CH 5180) The Caherciveen (Valentia Estuary) will require remedial and upgrading works to allow safe pedestrian use of the bridge. Proposed works will include installation of supporting beams, flooring, hand railing and headwalls to abutments and the existing footpath ramped up to meet the level of the new deck. Steelwork repairs may also be required. 3. N70 Underpass (CH 14680) Construction of a 44.0m long underpass structure, consisting of 4.0m wide x 2.7m high precast concrete culverts. There is no existing structure at this location. 90m of reinforced concrete retaining wall constructed parallel to the west bound lane of the N70 on both approaches to the proposed underpass. 4. N70 Overbridge The existing structure consists of an insitu concrete deck on 8 no. precast beams on concrete abutments. The structure has a span of 12.18m, clearance of 4.3m and an out-to-out width of 4.15m. It is proposed to construct a new structure to meet a minimum headroom of 5.30m. • The Works Contract will be progressed as a Design and Build Contract Under the Public Works Contract for Civil Engineering Works designed by The Contractor. • It is a key objective to work in a collaborative manner on this contract and it is intended to allocate certain risk elements based on a shared approach. • The construction period will be 24 months. • It is estimated that Construction Costs will be in the region of €12 to €15 million. • Kerry County Council expects to undertake this procurement process in accordance with the indicative timescale and programme set out below: - Issue of SAQ (August 2023) - Return of Completed SAQ (September 2023) - Issue of Tender Documents (October 2023) - Tender Returns (December 2023) - Contract Award (February 2024) - Contract Commencement (March 2024) For further information contact: Kerry National Road Office, Kerry County Council, The Island Centre, Castleisland, Co.
