Construction of Temporary Bus Depot at Jamestown

The National Transport Authority (NTA) gives notice of its intention to procure the build of a temporary bus depot. This proposed depot will be located 7 km north of the city centre along the Jamestown Rd. The proposed depot will include 180 bus parking bays, a maintenance building (1000m2) and an administration building (700m2). Lot 1: The proposed works involves the development of a temporary bus depot. The proposed temporary depot will include provision for parking, maintenance and dispatch of buses to the public transport network serving the Dublin City urban areas and associated support infrastructure and amenity for drivers and support staff operating from the facility. The proposed development is intended to facilitate the temporary relocation of buses from existing bus depots that are located throughout Dublin so as to facilitate phased infrastructure upgrades of the existing depots. These upgrade works could include works such as: the electrification of those depots in order to facilitate fully electric buses; the development of additional depot facilities; and the installation of next generation automatic vehicle location. The main elements of Construction include. • Construction of a bus maintenance building (1000m2) to provide enclosed daily maintenance routine of bus vehicles and which shall include (a) internal maintenance/inspection bays with service pit, wash area, and ancillary stores, (b) compressor room; and (c) maintenance staff canteen and WC. • Construction of an administration building (700m2) including (a) control and administration rooms; (b) driver amenities including kitchenette, changing facility, and WC; and (c) ancillary plant room. • Parking for approx. 180 buses and 60 cars. • Staff and service car-parking and 3 no. staff bicycle shelters • Surface water drainage works. • Surfacing works within the site boundary approx. 24,000m2. • Connection to existing water and foul water mains on Jamestown Road. • Lighting stands for bus parking areas. • Signage • Landscaping including erection of new perimeter boundary fencing and boundary treatment • All associated site development works. Location of Proposed Works The subject site measuring 4 hectares in area, is situated on the Jamestown Road, in the northern Dublin City suburb of Fingal circa 600m south of the M50 1,300m north of Finglas village and 7km north of Dublin City Centre. The subject site represents a previously developed ‘brownfield’ former industrial manufacturing facility which forms part of a larger light industrial area (Poppintree Industrial Estate) where a number of business and community training facilitates are located. The wedged shape of the site extends along Jamestown Road whilst sharing its shorter northern and western boundary with the IDA Poppintree campus to the east. Two vehicle access/egress points are located on the western site boundary onto the Jamestown Road with existing footpath along the roadside boundary. There are no current activity (or structures) occurring on site. The site is absent of any semi-natural features. Boundary vegetation is limited and sporadic with signs of recolonising bare ground pursuant. The procurement of the Project will be governed by Directive 2014/24/EU, as implemented by European Union (Award of Public Authority Contracts) Regulations 2016 (S.I. 284/2016).. It is anticipated that this will involve the application of a one-stage open procedure where the Contract Notice is published with the necessary Suitability Assessment Questionnaire documentation and tender documentation uploaded and interested parties submitting their tender by the stated deadline.. The award of the contract will be based on the most economically advantageous tender. Further information in this regard will be published with the documentation accompanying the Contract Notice.. The NTA intends to publish a Contract Notice in Q3 2023.. This is not a call for competition and no tender documents are available at this stage. Full details of the competition will be contained in the tender documents once they are issued. Please note that the information outlined above is indicative only.
