Description
Evaluation Project Overview – Advert This Evaluation Project is an exciting opportunity to work with Natural resources Wales (NRW) to help develop and evaluate the Welsh Government funded scheme - Healthy Hillsides. This collaborative project between NRW, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council and the Wildfire Trust of South and West Wales, is looking to integrate partnership approaches to tackling the issues around Wildfire in the South Wales Valleys. Wildfire has been officially recognised as a major UK hazard, with its inclusion in the National Risk Register of Civil Emergencies. The annual cost of fighting wildfires in the UK is £55 million. South Wales is one of the worst affected areas of the UK for Wildfires which have multiple impacts, including: biodiversity, air quality, water quality, access, perceptions, fire officer and community safety and human health. A wide range of benefits will be delivered through the Healthy Hillsides project, including; improved access for recreation; management for better resilience of habitats, wildlife and climate change; better protection of heritage sites; partnership working sharing ideas, expertise and increasing resource efficiency; greater public awareness; and exploring sustainable management opportunities with community groups. NRW are looking to bring on board an evaluation contractor that will facilitate and work within the delivery of the project to ensure that the outcomes are met, and that the reach of the project is evaluated independently to understand how best to approach this issue in the future. The project will complete in June 2023, a final full evaluation report will be completed by the Evaluation Contractor.
