Description

The Medical Physics services to The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are provided by an external company. The service is supplemented by local experts who supply non-ionising radiation protection and quality assurance (QA) services for Breast Screening from a neighbouring NHS Trust. The Authority is looking to enter into a Contract for 3 years, with 2, 12-months optional extensions. The Contract is divided in 7 Lots. The Supplier will provide Services as follows: (a) The individual(s) providing these services must be certificated under the RPA 2000 certification scheme. The appointed RPA will be required to attend all meetings of the Trust's Radiation Protection Provision of acceptance testing and annual and recommissioning. The Supplier will provide Services as follows: (a) Source audits; (b) Calibration of assay calibrators; (c) Support in the event of accidents involving radioactive materials; (d) Liaison with Environment Agency; (e) Maintenance of radioactive waste records; (f) RPA advice in this area. All services provided must meet the requirements of all applicable UK and EU legislation and be compliant with all applicable guidance issued by UK authorities and the IPEM. The Supplier will provide Services as follows: (a) Cysto-Urology HoYAG; (b) DEKA ‘Smart Office’ CO2 Laser; (c) Laserscope Aura KTP Laser; (d) Eye Clinic KTP Lumenis Novus Spectra; (e) KTP Laser Theatre 1 Alcon Eyelite; (f) Nidek YC-1600 NdYAG Laser; (g) Sharplan NdYAG 3000 Laser; (h) Varilase 810 diode laser. The Supplier will provide Services as follows: To provide laser QA and radiation protection for the following UV sources: (a) UV cabins; (b) UV panel irradiator; (c) UV hand and foot units; (d) MED/MPD Tester — Timer; (e) MED/MPD Tester — Calibration; (f) Annual UV Safety Audit and Risk Assessment for each of the above. The Supplier will provide Services as follows: (a) Provision of acceptance testing services for all new ultrasound scanners and such repeat measurements as may be required during the life time of the scanners. The test should be broadly in-line with the requirements of Trust document 2MPD-005 v5 Diagnostic Ultrasound QA Protocol. The Supplier will provide Services as follows: (a) Provision of Quality Assurance testing as per MRI QA document attached. Acceptance testing and advice for procurement for new scanner when required. (a) (TARGIT), and the manufacturer specific training (ZEISS Medical Physics Expert (MPE) — a state registered clinical scientist with appropriate professional membership and at least 6 years of appropriate experience in the clinical speciality of radiotherapy. (b) Medical Physics Experts are responsible for providing advice on all aspects of patient dosimetry, optimisation and safety of treatment and treatment planning, quality assurance and any other matters relating to the safety of radiotherapy equipment and techniques. (c) The Medical Physics Expert must be closely involved in all IORT treatments (d) The team must have had appropriate and recorded training on the Intra-beam or be able to show how they will complete training prior to commencement of the contract, such as the International Training course on Targeted Intra-operative Radiotherapy.
