M8 27-28 55 White Cart Viaduct -Concrete testing

Description

The M8 27-28 55 - White Cart Viaduct (WCV) is a high-level, 23-span bridge that crosses the White Cart Water, carrying the M8 motorway's eastbound and westbound carriageways between junctions 27 and 28. Completed in 1968. As part of the maintenance activity during the Principal and General Inspections, multiple concrete defects have been identified to the soffit of the concrete deck slab, as well as on the piers and abutments. Following these findings, Transport Scotland has directed Amey to undertake remedial concrete repair works. Prior to the commencement of these repairs, a comprehensive programme of concrete condition assessment and material testing as per CS 464 Non-Destructive testing of Highway Structures is required to inform the repair strategy.
