Ferry transport services

The Corran Ferry is operated by the Highland Council and is the busiest single vessel vehicle route in Scotland carrying over 250 000 cars per year. In recent years, a number of operational, financial and other challenges have emerged which present both short and long-term threats to the future sustainability and viability of the service. We are contacting prospective contractors to give market notice that a procurement for the ferry service may be coming forward. This PIN is only intended to commence preliminary market engagement and to obtain clarity on what the market thinks is appropriate in terms of: 1) Vessels and refit/relief/breakdown cover; 2) Slipways and infrastructure; 3) Crewing model; 4) Fares structure. We are attaching a questionnaire to seek the views of suppliers and potential suppliers of ferry services to the Highland Council that will be used by the Highland Council to determine the future provision of the Corran ferry service.
