Request-for-Tenders to establish a Single Supplier Framework Agreement for the supply, delivery and installation of RFID equipment and the encoding and fit of RFID tags for the TU Dublin Library

TU Dublin wishes to establish a single party framework agreement for the provision of RFID tagging service at their libraries at various locations across Dublin City and its suburbs. TU Dublin Library Services currently has 5 libraries on 5 different sites across Dublin City and its suburbs. Two of these libraries will be merging into one new, purpose-built library (Academic Hub library) on the Grangegorman Campus in summer 2024. These two libraries are currently located at Park House Grangegorman, Dublin 7 and Aungier Street, Dublin 2. There are also 3 smaller TU Dublin libraries that may have future requirements for RFID tagging and encoding. These are based at: Blanchardstown Library, Dublin 15, Bolton Street library, Dublin 1, and Tallaght library, Dublin 24. They will not form part of this initial project but may be upgraded as part of the framework in the future. Currently, all TU Dublin libraries use Electromagnetic (EM) tags for security. The RFID security gates planned for the Academic Hub as part of the construction contract only read RFID tags. The Academic Hub’s collections will therefore have to be RFID-tagged before their relocation from Park House and Aungier Street libraries to ensure continuing security of the collections. To convert these materials from electro-magnetic (EM) tattle tapes to RFID tags, the library wishes to procure a vendor to apply RFID tags to each item and encode the tags as appropriate.
