TII411_MetroLink Ground Investigations

Published

Description

The Contract, for a Specialist Contractor, is intended to provide additional information in respect of the soil and rock ground conditions, ground water levels and ground water conditions, and soil and water contamination to inform the MetroLink project. In order to develop a sufficient level of confidence in the ground conditions along the MetroLink route and to manage ground condition risk transfer at ten-der stage, there is a requirement to further supplement the ground investigation data collected to-date via 65 number additional Geotechnical Investigation boreholes at key locations along the MetroLink alignment. The scope of site works spans from the proposed Estuary Station north of Swords to the southernmost Charlemont Station, just south of the Grand Canal, covering Dublin City. A total of 65 exploratory holes will be drilled using Geobore-S techniques, ranging from ground level to depths of approximately 10m to 40m. Environmental sampling and testing will also be undertaken. These Investi-gations are required in order to produce the tender design, Geotechnical Baseline Report and the con-tract specification for the NEC4 works packages Central, Northern and Southern.
