Greening and Street Furniture Strategy for the Grafton Street Quarter

Published

Description

Dublin City Council has developed a Public Realm Strategy for the Grafton Street Quarter. The strategy identifies a series of public realm refurbishment projects that are to be undertaken in the coming years. The purpose of this tender is to appoint a SP to provide a green infrastructure and street furniture strategy that will support and guide the implementation of the Public Realm Strategy. The Public Realm Strategy for the Grafton Street Quarter sets out a vision to create the highest quality public realm for an area of the city centre that is defined by its character, historic buildings, animated street activities and culture. The Public Realm Strategy focuses on developing the quarter’s unique identity through nurturing qualities of character, diversity, authenticity and place. The purpose of the green infrastructure strategy and the street furniture strategy is to build on the current objectives of the public realm strategy by setting out a detailed planting plan/green infrastructure plan, street furniture plan and providing a high quality bench mark standard that must be achieved in the subsequent public realm projects. The primary objective of the green infrastructure and street furniture strategy for the GSQ is to set out a vision for the area that will promote a high quality planting and street furniture scheme and enhance the users’ experience of the public realm. Based on highest quality international standards in streetscape design, the strategy should fulfil this vision for the area while recognising and supporting the existing character and uniqueness of the quarter. This project has now been awarded to Bernard Seymour Landscape Architect. Date 16 October 2013. One offer received.
